ABOUT ME AND MY DOGS
My name is Kelly and I live with my husband Aran in Essex. In May 2007 we adopted our very first greyhound, Maya, from Clarks Farm Greyhound Rescue in Great Totham. We'd done some research on the breed and decided a greyhound was the right dog for our situation, and we'd set our heart on a rescue dog anyway.
Maya was a beautiful brindle girl who had waited 6 months for a home, and was a kennel favorite. We could see why as she was such a lovely dog although it took a while for her to settle in at home.

Sadly in September 2007 Maya became suddenly ill and we lost her on the operating table. We miss her very much.
A week later we decided to give another deserving greyhound a home and returned to the kennels to look at other dogs. We took Lucy home on a weeks trial, as we were still heartbroken over loosing Maya so suddenly. Lucy had only been in the kennels 3 days, she was very underweight and she looked very sorry for herself. We washed her and fed her up, and after her weeks trial she stayed and has been with us ever since. She's blossomed into a cheeky character, who is now in the top class of our local obedience training school and a proud member of the Greyhound Walks Display Team. Lucy even does agility, not something Greyhounds are seen doing very often!

In April 2009 we decided to add to our 'family' by bringing in another dog to go with Lucy. We couldn't agree on a breed in particular, I wanted a second greyhound and my husband wanted a more 'active' dog that he could play with and spend time with. We'd almost given up trying to find a compromise, when quite by accident my jewllery stall was put next to Southern Lurcher Rescue's at a dog show. They had with them a pack of lurchers, mostly owned by the stall holders, but three of them had 'I need a home' jackets' on. Aran fell immediately for one in particular, Moss, a little Saluki cross type lurcher.

We filled in the adoption papers for Moss the same day and a week later he came to live with us and complete our family. He certainly is a stark contrast to our Lucy. She's a typical greyhound, very laid back and lazy, sleeps all day if you let her. Moss is an active little soul, always on the go wanting to play and be the centre of attention. We wouldn't be without either of them though.
Having adopted Greyhounds and a now recently a Lurcher I have nothing but admiration for the work the rescue kennels do in finding these wonderful dogs homes. I know it's a struggle finacially for most of them, and they work so hard to save as many dogs as they can. This is why I set up Greyhound Jewellery, to help in my own little way to make some money for these charities and rescues who need all the assistance they can get.
If you are thinking of adopting a dog I'd urge you to consider a rescued greyhound or lurcher and look at my links page which has many South Eastern England based rescues on.
Thank you for visting my website and reading about me and my dogs.
